The paddles are coming down off the shelf, the courts are getting swept, and somewhere out there at least one of you is claiming to have practiced all summer. We remain skeptical.
Dolan and Napolitano return as defending champions after last spring’s 9-to-1 Cinderella run — three matches, two deciding tiebreakers, and a rainbow over the courts to finish it off. Which means everyone else now has a very specific target to aim at.
We start back on Monday 21 September. The first two Mondays are warm-ups — a chance to shake off the rust before anything goes on the record — and the season proper begins in October. Sixteen of us this year, with Rockman back after a season lost to injury.
New season, clean slate, everyone back to zero.
